Working with individuals

Francesca Coniglio is the Principal Occupational Therapist at Spark Occupational Therapy and Consultancy with a Masters of Occupational Therapy (Honours) and over 16 years of practice experience.

Our approach

At Spark Occupational Therapy & Consultancy, we recognise that people’s experiences in life are complex and multi-faceted.

We recognise that everyone has a story, hopes, dreams, aspirations, strengths, light and shade. It is a privilege to have the opportunity to work with and hold space for people to explore what living life to its fullest looks and feels like.

We utilise a recovery-oriented, strengths-based and trauma-sensitive approach. This means we take the time to get to know you, what’s important to you, what you see as your strengths, and what lights you up as a path forward for our work together.

We work in a way that honours your inner strength and self-knowledge – that you hold the resources for your own direction taking and decision making. What we offer to you are tools, opportunities and perspectives for you to draw more wholly upon your own strengths and resources.

We work with you to:

  • Set goals and action plan
  • Develop your skills with:
    – Managing your day-to-day routine
    – Taking care of yourself
    – Daily living tasks such as cooking, shopping, cleaning, organising
    – Communication and relationships
    – Studying and working
    – Parenting such as supporting you to be the best for your child
  • Build strategies for:
    – Managing challenges with motivation
    – Managing emotions
    – Coping with stress and overwhelm
    – Experiences with voice hearing or unusual beliefs
    – Navigating boundaries and relationships
  • Undertake Assessments including NDIS Functional Capacity Assessments (FCAs) – this is a comprehensive assessment of your current level of functioning and support needs.

What to expect when working with us

Connection, trust and understanding is key in any therapeutic relationship.

At the beginning, it is important to get to know you, what is important to you, and what it is you would like us to work together on.

You will be provided with a sense of how we can support your needs. It is also an opportunity for you to share what is important to you in terms of working with a therapist, and what works best and doesn’t work for you.

From there, we can start to explore your goals, strengths and values. We will also explore what are the challenges and barriers to meeting your needs and goals, and work to address or minimise these.

Collaboratively we will develop a plan on how we will work towards these goals, and therapy will be tailored to meet your specific needs and goals.
